TIME IN A BOTTLE
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I’d like to do
Is to save every day
Till eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I’d save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I’ve looked around enough to know
That you’re the one I want to go
Through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I’ve looked around enough to know
That you’re the one I want to go
Through time with
FEVER
Never know how much I love you,
Never know how much I care.
When you put your arms around me,
I get a fever that's so hard to bear.
Sun lights up the daytime
And moon lights up the night.
I light up when you call my name
And you know I'm gonna treat you right.
You give me fever
When you kiss me,
Fever when you hold me tight.
Fever! In the morning,
And fever all through the night.
Everybody's got the fever
That is something you all know
Fever isn't such a new
thing
Fever started long ago.
Romeo loved Juliet
Juliet she felt the same
When
he put his arms around her he said,
Julie, Baby, you're my flame.
Thou giveth fever
When we kisseth
Fever with thy flaming youth
Fever! I'm afire,
Fever, yeah, I burn, forsooth.
Now you've listened to my story,
Here's the point that I have made:
Cats were born to give chicks fever,
Be it Fahrenheit or Centigrade.
They give you fever
When you kiss them
Fever if you live and learn
Everybody's got the fever
That is something you all know
Fever isn't such a new thing
Fever started long ago, oh!
Fever! 'till you sizzle.
Fever . . .
What a lovely way to burn.
I’D BE SURPRISINGLY
GOOD FOR YOU
It seems crazy but you must believe
There's nothing calculated, nothing
planned
Please forgive me if I seem naive
I would never want to force your hand
But please understand, I'd be good for you
I don't always rush in like this
Twenty seconds after saying hello
Telling strangers I'm too good to miss
If I'm wrong I hope you'll tell me so
But you really should know,
I'd be good for you
I'd be surprisingly
good for you
I won't go on if I'm boring you
But do you understand my point of view?
Do you like what you hear, what you see
And would you be, good for me too?
I'm not
talking of a hurried night
A frantic tumble then a shy goodbye
Creeping home before
it gets too light
That's not the reason that I caught your eye
Which has to imply,
I'd be good for you
I'd be surprisingly good for you
WIDNMILLS OF YOUR MIND
Round, like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel,
Never ending or beginning,
On an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain,
Or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that's turning
Running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on its face
And the world is like an apple
Spinning silently in space
Like the cirrcles that you find
In the windmills of your mind!
Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where
the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half-forgotten dream
Like the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream.
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on its face
And the world is like an apple
Spinning silently in space
Like the circles that you find in the
Windmills of your mind!
Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go
so quickly?
Was it something that I said?
Lovers walk along a shore
And leave their
footprints in the sand
Was the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your
hand?
Pictures hanging in a hallway
Or the fragment of a song,
Half-remembered names
and faces
But to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over
In the autumn of goodbyes
For a moment could you not recall
The color of his eyes.
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your
mind.
TOO LATE NOW
Too late now to forget your smile
The way we cling when we danced
awhile
Too late now to forget and go on to someone new
Too late now to forget your
voice
The way one word makes my heart rejoice
Too late now to imagine myself away
from you
All the things we've done together
I relive when we're apart
All the tender fun together
Stays on in my heart
How could I ever close the door
And be the same as I was before?
Darling, no, no I can't anymore
It's too late now
All the things we have done together
I relive when we're apart
All the tender fun together
Stays on, stays on
in my heart
How could I ever close the door
And be the same as I was before?
Darling, no, no I can't anymore
It's too late now
Too late now
GOODY GOODY/WHO’S SORRY NOW
You told me there wasn't a lesson in lovin' that you hadn't learned.
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
You told me that you could keep playing with fire without gettin' burned.
Oh yeah, oh yeah
So you met someone who set you back on your heels, goody
So you met someone and now you know how it feels, goody!
Well you gave
her your heart too, just as I gave mine to you
And she broke it in little pieces,
now how do you do?
So you're lying awake just singing the blues all
night, goody!
And you think that loves a barrel of dynamite!
Hurray and halleluiah, you had it comin to ya
Goody for her!
Goody goody for me!
And
I hope you're satisfied you rascal you!
Who's sorry now, who's sorry now?
Whose heart is achin' for
breakin' each vow ?
Who's sad and blue, who's cryin' too
Just like I cried over you
Right to the end just like a friend
I tried to warn you somehow
You had your way, now you must pay
I'm glad that you're sorry now
So you're lying awake just singing the blues all night, goody!
And you think that loves a barrel of dynamite!
Hurray and halleluiah, you had it comin to ya
Goody for her!
Goody goody for me!
And I hope you're satisfied
I hope your satisfied
I hope your satisfied you rascal you!
MISTER SNOW
His name is Mister Snow,
And an up-standing man is he.
He comes
home every night in his round-bottomed boat,
With a net full of herring from the
sea.
An almost perfect boat,
As refined as a girl could wish.
But he spends so much
time in his round-bottomed boat
That he can't seem to lose the smell of fish.
The
first time he kissed me the whiff from his clothes
Knocked me flat on the floor
of the room.
But now that I love him, my heart's in my nose
And fish is my favorite
perfume!
Last night he spoke quite low,
And a fair-spoken man is he.
And he said
"Miss Pipperidge, I'd like it fine
If I could be wed with a wife.
And indeed, Miss
Pipperidge, if you'll be mine,
I'll be yours for the rest of my life.
Next moment
we were promised,
And now my mind's in a maze.
For all it can do is look forward
to
That wonderful day of days!
When I marry Mister Snow
The flowers'll be buzzin'
with the hum of bees
The birds'll make racket in the church yard trees
When I marry Mister Snow
Then it's off to home we'll go.
And both of us'll look a little dreamy-eyed
A driving to a cottage by the
Where the salty breezes blow.
He'll carry
me 'cross the threshold,
And I'll be as meek as a lamb.
Then he'll set me on my
feet,
And I'll say kinda sweet,
"Well, Mister Snow, here I am."
Then I'll kiss him
so he'll know
That evry'thin'll be as right as right can be
A living in a cottage
by the sea with me
For I love that Mister Snow.
That young sea-faring,
Bold and
daring,
Big bewhiskered, overbearing
Darling Mister Snow.
MORE THAN YOU KNOW
Whether
you are here or yonder
Whether you are false or true
Whether you remain or wander
I’m growing fonder of you
Even though your friends forsake you
Even though you don't
succeed
Wouldn't I be glad to take you
Give you the break you need
More than you know
More than you know
Man of my heart, I love you so
Lately I find
You're on my
mind
More than you know
Whether you're right, whether you're wrong
Man of my heart,
I'll string along
You need me so
More than you'll ever know
Loving you the way that I do
There's nothing I can do about it
Loving may be all you can give
But honey,
I can't live without it
Oh how I'd cry, oh how I'd cry
If you got tired, and said
goodbye
More than I'd show
More than you'll ever know.
YOU’RE MY HOME
When you look
into my eyes
And you see the crazy gypsy in my soul
It always comes as a surprise
When I feel my withered roots begin to grow
Well I never had a place that I could
call my very own
But that's all right, my love, 'cause you're my home.
When you touch
my weary head
And you tell me everything will be all right
You say, "Use my body
for your bed
And my love will keep you warm throughout the night" Well I'll never
be a stranger and I'll never be alone
Where ever we're together, that's my home
Home can be the Pennsylvania Turnpike
High up in the
hills of
Home is just another word for you
If I travel all my life
And
I never get to stop and settle down
Long as I have you by my side
There's a roof
above and good walls all around
You're my castle, you're my cabin and my instant
pleasure dome
I need you in my house 'cause you're my home You're my home
